Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. Elgin Mills & Yonge Dental Clinic is accepting new patients, and you can book directly — no referral is required to see a general dentist in Ontario.
We see patients from across Richmond Hill, including Oak Ridges, Jefferson, Richvale, Bayview Hill, and Mill Pond, along with families travelling south from Aurora on Yonge Street.
If it has been a long time since your last dental visit, you are in good company and there is no lecture waiting for you. A lot of people arrive having put it off for years, often because of cost, a bad experience somewhere else, or simply life getting in the way. We start where you are.
Are you open on Saturdays?
Yes — Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.
Saturday is the appointment people ask for most often, and it fills first. If a particular Saturday matters to you, book further ahead than you would for a weekday slot.
Are you open late on weeknights?
Yes. We are open until 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays, which covers most patients who cannot take time out of a working day.
Our full week:
| Day | Hours | | --- | --- | | Monday | 10am – 7pm | | Tuesday | Closed | | Wednesday | 12pm – 5pm | | Thursday | 10am – 7pm | | Friday | 12pm – 5pm | | Saturday | 9am – 4pm | | Sunday | Closed |
We would rather be upfront that we are closed Tuesdays and Sundays than have you discover it after a wasted trip.
How soon can I get an appointment?
For a routine check-up and cleaning, we can usually offer something within a couple of weeks, sooner if you have flexibility on the day. Evening and Saturday slots have the longest wait, so if your schedule allows a midday Wednesday or Friday appointment you will typically be seen faster.
If you are in pain, have swelling, or have broken a tooth, say so when you call. Urgent concerns are triaged differently and we do our best to see you the same day. Our emergency dentist page explains what counts as urgent and what to do while you wait.
What happens at your first visit as a new patient
A conversation before anything else
We ask what brought you in, what has bothered you in the past, and what you want out of your dental care. If you are anxious about dental visits, this is the moment to say so — it changes how we do everything that follows.
Comprehensive exam
We check your teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissues, including an oral cancer screening. This is a full assessment, not a glance.
X-rays where clinically needed
Only where they will actually inform your care, and we will explain why before we take them.
Cleaning
In most cases we clean on the same visit. If your gums need a more involved approach, we will explain that rather than rushing it.
Findings and a plan, in plain language
You get a clear picture of what is going on and what, if anything, needs doing — separated into what needs attention now and what can simply be monitored. Anything with a cost is put in writing before you agree to it.
For more on the philosophy behind that first visit, see our new patients page.
Do you take my insurance or CDCP?
We direct bill most major Canadian insurers, which means we submit the claim and you pay only your portion rather than paying in full and waiting to be reimbursed.
We also accept Canadian Dental Care Plan patients and submit CDCP claims on your behalf. Every patient is charged the same fee for the same treatment regardless of how they pay — see our CDCP dentist page for how the plan works at this clinic, or the guide to what the CDCP covers for eligibility and covered services.
No coverage at all? Say so when you book. We will give you a written estimate before treatment starts so nothing is a surprise, and understanding dental insurance explains how plan maximums and coverage percentages work if you are weighing whether to get a plan.
